Teaching Philosophy
- My teaching philosophy consists of meeting my students where they are in their current physical health and abilities, and helping them grow to a level that is healthy for them. I hope they will be able to use the knowledge and skills they acquired in class later on in their future lives. I want to challenge them and allow them to critically think about Physical Education. I strive to keep students engaged in activities by having the content applicable and meaningful in their lives. This can lead to greater success in the classroom and help them learn to enjoy a healthy lifestyle.
Classroom Management Philosophy
- My classroom management/behavioral management philosophy is similar to my teaching philosophy. I believe that Physical Education is a class that is enjoyable but also informational and important to their lives. I know that creating relationships with my students is the first component to a successful classroom. Having genuine relationships will also allow them to feel confident and safe with me. Feeling safe in the classroom can allow the students to try new things, give their best effort, and enjoy themselves during class.
- I align with the Love and Logic theory as well as Robert Marzano's theory of classroom management. My classroom will have rules and procedures that will be implemented at the beginning of the year/semester and will be reiterated throughout the remainder of the course. This will allow them to successfully and safely learn. I believe that when students are comfortable, classroom management becomes much easier. Classroom management is critical in physical education, and I intend to professionally manage my students while they are learning and having some fun along the way.
Attached below are pieces of evidence that discuss my classroom management and
detailed information that was learned and applied in a Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment class. These pieces of work have many artifacts for future use such as lesson plans, an unit assessment,
a mock letter home to parents, and more.
